I regularly work with business owners who struggle with their accounting systems on a daily basis, and just view their system as a necessary evil, so they just use it to record basic information about their sales and sometimes purchases.
Due to a lack of training, understanding or interest, they don't view their accounting system as an incredibly useful tool to manage their business.
